Most people with malignant mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they breathed asbestos। Others have been exposed to asbestos in a household environment, often without knowing it. However with the terrorist attacks of 2001 in New York and Washington, hundreds of people were exposed to asbestos, when the buildings collapsed and the asbestos dust was were expanded in the environment.
